국가유산청 국립문화유산연구원은 10월 13일(화) 오후 1시에 대전컨벤션센터 제1전시장 3층 컨퍼런스홀(대전 유성구)에서 '재료를 읽다, 기술을 잇다'를 주제로 국제학술대회를 개최한다.

이번 학술대회는 근현대 건축자재의 연구동향을 점검하고 향후 과제를 모색하기 위해 마련되었다. 연구와 제도, 현장 실무를 잇는 논의를 통해 보존관리의 품질을 높이고 국내외 협력의 기반을 다질 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

학술대회는 기조강연을 비롯하여 6개의 발표와 총평으로 구성된다. 먼저, ▲ '동아시아 근현대 건축유산 보존·관리에서 건축자재의 변화와 흐름 생각해보기'(윤인석, 성균관대학교)를 주제로 진행되는 기조강연에서는 동아시아 근현대 건축재료의 변천과 보존·관리 관련 문제를 제시하고 향후 재료 보존을 위한 제언을 소개한다.

이어서 ▲ 근현대 건축자재의 보존·수리를 위한 국가적 연구의 역할과 지속적인 연구기반 구축의 필요성을 강조한 '한국 근현대유산 건축자재 제조·제작 기술 연구 현황과 방향'(홍은기, 국립문화유산연구원), ▲ 근대기 건축자재의 규격·현행 기준·실측을 교차 분석해 재현 벽돌 기준을 목적별로 제시한 '한국 근대기 점토벽돌의 물성과 재현 기준 고찰-당대 규격·현행 기준·실측 물성의 비교를 중심으로'(권양희, 한국전통문화대학교), ▲ '삼성'(역사성, 문헌성, 시대성)을 토대로 유산의 가치를 이해하고, '삼학'(역사학, 고고학, 건축학)을 두루 고려하여 실질적으로 유산을 보호해야 한다는 내용의 '삼성삼학' 이론이 실제 중국 건축유산에 적용된 사례를 살펴보는 '우리의 주장: 건축유산 보호의 '삼성삼학(三性三學)' 상하이시 화이하루중루 1131호 보호 수선사업을 중심으로'(선샤오밍, 에이치엔에이 아키텍츠(H.N.A. Architects)), ▲ 일본의 벽돌, 지붕, 장식 자재의 보존 및 수리 사례를 종합적으로 정리한 '일본 근현대 건축자재와 관련된 동향 및 이슈: 벽돌, 지붕 자재, 장식 자재 등의 보존 및 수리 현황 사례'(모리모토 히데히로, 리트로이트핏 엘씨씨(Retrofit LCC)), ▲ 20세기 이후 중국 근대 건축 기술 변화의 흐름을 이야기하는 '기술, 재해석, 동질화: 중국 건축유산 보존에 관한 성찰'(슈창쉬에, 홍콩대학교)까지 6개의 주제발표가 진행된다. 발표 이후에는 전체 발표 내용에 대한 총평으로 행사가 마무리된다.

국가유산청 국립문화유산연구원은 이번 학술대회를 통해 근현대 건축자재의 제조·제작기술 연구동향을 공유하고, 연구 성과의 현장 활용도를 높일 수 있도록 학술·정책·실무 간 연계를 강화하는 적극행정을 이어갈 것이다.

The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (hereinafter, NRICH), under the Korea Heritage Service, will host an international academic conference titled "Reading Materials, Connecting Technologies" at 1 PM on Tuesday, October 13, in the third-floor conference hall of Daejeon Convention Center in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.

The conference will examine current research trends in modern and contemporary building materials and explore future directions and challenges. It aims to foster closer dialogue across research, policy, and conservation practice, improve heritage conservation and management, and strengthen cooperation in Korea and abroad.

The program will open with a keynote address, followed by five presentations and a concluding review. In the keynote address, "Reflecting on the Evolution and Trends of Building Materials in the Conservation and Management of Modern and Contemporary Architectural Heritage in East Asia," Yoon In-Suk of Sungkyunkwan University will examine changes in modern and contemporary building materials across East Asia, identify issues related to their conservation and management, and present recommendations for future materials conservation.

The keynote will be followed by five presentations:
• Hong Eun-Ki of NRICH will present "Research on Production Techniques for Building Materials Used in Korea's Modern and Contemporary Heritage: Current Status and Future Directions." The presentation will emphasize the role of national research in conserving and repairing modern and contemporary building materials and the need to establish a sustainable research foundation.
• Kwon Yang-Hee of the Korea National University of Heritage will present "Physical Properties of Clay Bricks in Modern Korea and Criteria for Their Reproduction: A Comparison of Historical Specifications, Current Standards, and Measured Properties." The presentation will compare historical specifications, current standards, and measured properties to propose criteria for reproducing bricks for different applications.
• Shen Xiaoming of H.N.A. Architects will present "Our Proposition: The 'Three Attributes and Three Disciplines' of Architectural Heritage Conservation — A Case Study of the Conservation and Restoration Project at No. 1131 Huaihai Middle Road, Shanghai." The presentation will examine a conservation project in China that applied the "Three Attributes and Three Disciplines" approach—the "Three Attributes" of historicity, documentary value, and period character, and the "Three Disciplines" of history, archaeology, and architecture.
• Hidehiro Morimoto of Retrofit LCC will present "Trends and Challenges in the Conservation and Restoration of Modern and Contemporary Architectural Materials in Japan: Preserving Manufacturing and Craftsmanship Techniques for Bricks, Roofing Materials, and Decorative Materials." The presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of Japanese conservation and repair projects involving bricks, roofing materials, and decorative materials.
• Shu Changxue of the University of Hong Kong will present "Technology, Translation, and Homogenization: Rethinking Built Heritage Conservation in China." The presentation will trace developments in modern architectural technology in China since the twentieth century. The conference will conclude with an overall review of the keynote address and five presentations.
